During the third rifle season we were able to join outfitter Scott Gesell of Beaver Creek Outfitters on what turned out to be a most memorable Colorado elk hunt. We hunted season 3 of the Colorado rifle season and booked one of Scott’s drop camp elk hunts. From the day we arrived until the day we left we had elk moving through the area. Our group of 5 hunters harvested 4 animals. With multiple elk tags available and a price that won’t break the bank this is an incredible opportunity to harvest a Colorado elk. A Typical Day

We pride ourselves in accommodation, for this reason we offer multiple package options for our hunters. Our primary Colorado guided elk hunts are 7 day hunts, however, depending on the season, special accommodations are available. We can offer 3 day to 9 day hunts depending on your needs. These hunts consists of packing into camp on the first day and packing out on the last day. We make every effort to arrange hunt dates to fit your desired times. The Colorado drop camp elk hunts, offer the same accommodations as our guided hunts, minus the guide and provided food. After hunters are settled into our camps we will provide a brief overview of the areas and places of success in the past, after that, it’s up to you! We will check in every couple days to assist as needed. Once you have an animal down, you are responsible for quartering the meat and storing it in a safe and clean place. Our wranglers will take it from there. There is an option of bringing it directly into the meat processor in town to have it cleaned and processed into your liking or left at base camp quartered for you to take home and process.

The full service Colorado guided elk hunts for archery, muzzleloader and rifle seasons in the Routt National Forest are the most sought after hunts with Beaver Creek Outfitters. We hunt elk the month of Sept for archery and muzzleloader while the bulls light up the forest with the sound all Elk hunters dream of, the screaming bugle. Our Colorado archery/muzzleloader guided elk hunts start off on foot, with the option of horseback if necessary, with our elk hunting guides doing the calling to offer that encounter of a lifetime. Our guided rifle elk hunts are done on primarily horseback, to and from the areas we hunt everyday. We will assist in arranging an elk hunt that meets all your dreams.

Lodging & Meals

Colorado Guided Elk Hunts

Our Colorado guided elk hunt camp offers sleep tents for clients and staff and a dining and cook tent for all the meals. The meals are made daily by our camp cook. This package offers everything we have to offer to make your trip a complete success.

Our Colorado Drop Camp Elk Hunts

We have several locations in Unit 12 for our Colorado drop camps. With each camp we provide a wall tent that sleeps 4 comfortably. We can also set up a second tent to accommodate two more hunters. In the main tent we will have a cook stove, a wood burning stove. All cooking utensils. Cots and foam sleeping pads for each hunter as well as propane tanks and lights to make your stay a most enjoyable experience. We will also have a clean water supply within walking distance from each camp and will check on you periodically throughout the week. Each hunter is allowed to bring in one 48 quart cooler for food.

We will pack you and all your food and gear into camp, point out the best hunting areas, check your camp at least every other day, and pack out your game. You are expected to supply your personal gear, weapon, ammo, sleeping bag, and all staples and food supplies. You will be doing your own cooking and dressing your own game prior to our packing it out.

Once you have decided on the trip you would like to take and hunting season preference, a fifty percent deposit will hold your reservation and dates. All bookings are confirmed with a written contract signed by both parties, either at time of booking or sent via mail. Included with your contract will be, dates arriving and departing, season dates, price, deposit amount due and balance upon arrival to hunt due. Also included will be information about your area of hunt and guidance on applying for the proper tags through the Colorado Parks and Wildlife application process. Deposits are non-refundable if cancelled less than thirty days before a planned trip. A deposit refund will be made if another client is found to replace you, or you can choose to carry it over to the next year and reserve a hunt then. About The Outfitter

After meeting 12 years ago in their careers, Chris and Leon knew their hard work ethic and similar interests would one day lead to great things. In 2010, the two started the beginning of their hunting adventures together and sharing their love for these hunting experiences with others in their favorite hunting unit located near Craig, CO. Throughout the years of hunting together there was always the late evening mention around the fire of “doing this”, outfitting, together in the future. The dream finally became a reality in 2020 with the opportunity to purchase the well know outfitting company of, Beaver Creek Outfitters.

We look forward to trail rides on the front range to share the history of how it came to be, fishing trips in the Flat Top Wilderness, and the continuation of a successful elk outfitting operation.
